Kris: The event was a huge success with attendance between 15-30 thousand individuals. Attendance was higher than expected. The Snow Slide was a big hit.

Gary: The fingerprinting booth was constantly busy. The parents didn’t seem to mind having to wait in line to have it done. In fact it was the highest amount done at one time, a total of 125 kids were fingerprinted.  He expressed a need for an additional finger print kit and that he had already purchased some of the components to make another (1-2) kits, since it was cheaper than buying a kit already made up. Gary thanked those that volunteered at the fingerprinting booth: Elfi Koehle, Nell & Gary Stein, Al & Judy Henton.

·         Crime Prevention Brainstorming Update by Dan Hancock: Since the last meeting he had met with (5) other members and that they talked about different ways to approach Crime Prevention. Like sharing information with the points of contact (formally known as Block Captains of the Neighborhood Watch), that he had come up with another pamphlet which addresses Crime prevention tips for all ages, not just the Senior Citizens. That he would start sending the Crime Alerts to the Alumni members as well as to those in the Neighborhood Watch Members, suggested that maybe a meet your City Staff meeting would be a good idea-Converse has been doing that type of thing. All in all that National Night Out should remain focused on meeting your neighbors, and having other events thru out the year would be a good idea. Will give another update at next month’s meeting.

·         City Telephone Answering Machine Phone Line for the UCCPAAA update by President, Leon Franklin: The problems with our phone line has been resolved, and has been updated on both the City’s and the Alumni’s Web pages. Our number is: 658-5353, ext # 526.

They will be trying a different approach by having a tour of the PD & Dispatch on the first night of class. Converse PD also got involved. In the end the suspect was apprehended and booked into jail. Also found in the suspect’s vehicle was about a pound of marijuana.
