National Night Out

National Night Out (NNO) is an annual community event that has been held nationwide since 1984. Historically it has been held on the first Tuesday each August. Starting in 2008, Texas now holds its NNO celebration on the first Tuesday in October. Sometimes referred to as "America's Night Out Against Crime", NNO was establisted to encourage citizens to get actively involved in community actvities. The event encourages people to gather outside with their neighbors and meet with one another and community officials. A neighborhood where everyone knows everyone and they work together to improve their community, is a safer and happier place to live.
Each year the Universal City Police and Fire Departments, city officials and McGruff the Crime Dog, visit each of the NNO party locations. They have goodies for the children, crime prevention information for the adults and they welcome the opportunity to meet YOU and discuss whatever is on your mind. Take this opportunity to party with your friends and neighbors and get to know your Public Safety and city officials better. Texas is one of the top states in the country and Universal City has been among the leaders for cities in our category for the number of NNO parties we hold.
The Universal City Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association has responsibility for coordinating NNO and tracking registrations. Please contact our National Night Out Coordinator at NNOC if you have any questions concerning NNO.
