It is time to get ready for National Night Out (NNO) 2017.
This year there will be two NNO events.
Kickoff: Saturday September 30, 2017, 3-5 pm
Block Parties: Tuesday October 3, 2017, 6-9 pm
National Night Out, sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch, is an opportunity for citizens to "meet and greet" local police, fire and emergency response personnel -- and is also the Nation’s night out against crime, through unity among neighbors. Research shows when neighbors know and look out for each other, crime rates decline.
NNO Kickoff is on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at U.C. Park.
The ever increasing number of block parties has decreased the amount of time that police caravans can spend with you. This year, a NNO Kickoff will replace the block party caravans by centralizing police / fire / emergency responder personnel, and equipment / vehicles at the U.C. Park. In addition to these vehicles there will be S.W.A.T. vehicles and an Air Life helicopter. You may personally meet them and view the displays at your leisure. McGruff will also be there and looks forward to meeting with the children. There will be an exercise using special eyeglasses to simulate what it is like to drive while intoxicated. The Universal City Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association will be present to provide free Children’s Fingerprinting. They will also have information and registration forms available for Neighborhood Watch and next year’s Citizens Police Academy class.
All U.C. residents are invited to join us in making this NNO Kickoff a success!!! Mark your calendars and stay posted for updates on other fun events that might be added to the NNO Kickoff!
NNO Block Parties are on Tuesday, October 3, 2017.
Universal City encourages all neighborhoods to still have block parties on their streets. This event is a great way to bring neighbors together and have fun.
