National  Night  Out  2011

National Night Out (NNO) is an annual community event that has been held nationwide since 1984.  The event encourages people to gather outside with their neighbors and meet with one another and community officials.  Universal City celebrated NNO on October 4th with over 46 neighborhood parties with 5 caravans.   Sometimes referred to as "America's Night Out Against Crime", NNO was established to encourage citizens to get actively involved in community activities.  This year Universal City placed 23rd out of 310 similiar communities nationwide.

Universal City Police and Fire Departments, city officials and McGruff the Crime Dog, visited each of the registered NNO party locations with goodies for the children, crime prevention information for the adults.  They welcomed the opportunity to meet with citizens and discuss whatever was on their mind.
