Home Burglary

Recently there has been an increase in the number of attempted and actual home burglaries, often during daylight hours. The potential intruder usually knocks on the door, often quite loudly, in order to determine if anyone is at home.  If there is no answer, the intruder will typically kick down the door.
To protect against this crime, please take the following precautions:

-   Without opening your door, respond to the inquiry by saying you are not interested.

-   If the individual looks suspicious, call the police at 658-5353, Ext. 1.
Provide the dispatcher with your location and a description of the suspect.

-   If the indivual refuses to leave or you feel threatened, call the police at 911.

-   Share your experience with your neighbors and your Neighborhood Watch block
    captain if you have one.

-   Check to ensure you have adequate locks on your doors.
